The 15th Contoocook Carry

September 10, 2016 - 1:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the Contoocook Carry Community Fund

Triathlon– Individual & Team

Athletes, Families, Teens, Kids and Differently Abled. Any Age or Walk of Life.

The Contoocook Carry Triathlon was first held in 2002 to help build the town’s Spirit Skateboard Park.  This year, our mission is to give 100% of all proceeds directly to Fuel Assistance  (through Contoocook Carry Community Fund) to those who might need a little extra help this coming winter.

Our spirit has always come from outstanding athletes, families, teens trying to out do their parents or each other, and other adventurous people, just testing their mettle.  WE LOVE TEAM THEMES AND COSTUMES.  This event happens each year only because of the amazing volunteers from our town: The Lions Club, and many individual volunteers. This year (2013) we are honored that all five churches, lead by the First Congregational Church, will join hands to support this cause. To read about this race go to our NHToDo page!

The “Carry” begins from Hopkinton High School with a 2 mile run to the bank of the Contoocook River and a beautiful view of Putney Hill.  After putting your boat in the water, you’ll paddle about a 1 ½ miles to the portage, just above the dam and bridge in the Village of Contoocook.  You and your boat will portage (you carry, it rides) about 200 yards to return to the river.  At the end of the paddle, you can begin the 14 mile bike through the lightly rolling country back to high School.  For more, read the article on our Bow Times page!

Join us for the fun, help warm some hearts and carry the load.  You get more information about our efforts at “About Us”.  You can also read more about the community effort to supply fuel assistance through the Contoocook Carry Fund and the newly created  Sean Powers Wood Bank at http://www.woodforwarmth.org.
